“I ask your forgiveness”: the thief's plea that saves him from dying, in Huancayo

Crying, he joined his hands and asked for forgiveness. “I beg you from the bottom of my heart, please forgive me, don’t kill me, no, no,” Cristian Jheison Casavilca Huamán told the neighbors. This 23-year-old young man was captured when he was on top of the young woman whom he knocked on the floor to steal her cell phone. The young girl’s screams alerted the residents of the Chilca district, who managed to surround, beat and undress Cristian Casavilca. “We have to burn it, otherwise it will continue stealing,” said the angry neighbors who punished him until the detainee burst into tears and begged for his life.

Two are saved

At 6:20 p.m., night watchmen from Chilca were alerted by residents of the 9 de Octubre neighborhood of the capture of an alleged criminal in Jr. Francisco Toledo and Jorge Chávez passage. Upon arrival, the agents observed that a man was being punished in public. According to the victim, a 20-year-old girl, the detainee intercepted her and struggled on the floor to steal her cell phone. However, the neighbors managed to catch him.

“We are going to burn you so you don’t steal,” was the warning from the neighbors and the frightened detainee began to ask: “They want to kill me, mommy, take me to the police station, take me and they want to kill me,” repeated Cristian Casavilca, who first said his name was Jhon Jairo Velásquez.

With the support of the police, Cristian Casavilca Huamán, who has up to 13 complaints for other criminal acts, was taken to the police station for theft. Likewise, another similar event occurred on Moquegua and Angaraes streets in Huancayo.

In that place, at 10:04 in the morning, security guards and police found several neighbors gathered around a man who was half-naked, tied to a public lighting pole. The injured party, Deths Sanca P. (19), said that Juan Leoncio Gonzales Quilca (39), stole a Smartwatch (watch-bracelet) worth 540 soles from her stand located at the Megacentro Business Center. The person involved was caught while escaping, so the residents took off his clothes and tied him up, warning him that the next time they capture him they will lynch him.
