The governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho, refrained from declaring and responding to the Prosecutor’s Office for the case called ‘Coup I’. However, he asked to record a brief text so that it is officially recorded in the judicial record.

“I want to make it clear that I am proud and I hold it high to have been part of the biggest fight in the history of Bolivia for freedom and democracy and in defense of our vote that it was stealing from us,” says the statement of the Prosecutor’s Office.

Camacho was apprehended this Wednesday afternoon when he was going home. Five hours later, he joined the Special Force to Fight Crime (Felcc) in La Paz.

The State Attorney General’s Office issued a statement to reject the accusations made by Creemos deputies who described the governor’s detention as “kidnapping.” In the same document, the Prosecutor’s Office stated that the arrest is related to the charge for the ‘Golpe I’ case.

“I always maintained my position that in my statement I can count said feat” the court document collects. “Likewise, I always said that where I am summoned to testify I would attend because I have nothing to hide,” Camacho’s statement continues.

He denounces the violent arrest he suffered by a special police group that even resorted to the use of firearms. “Today the police brutally kidnapped me,” she describes.

In relation to the case against him, he pointed out that “Ms. Patty’s complaint lacks coherence, credibility and truth.” In addition, he pointed out that “by not believing in Bolivian justice and in order that my statement is not distorted to incriminate someone, I prefer to defend myself in writing,” she adds.

At the end of this brief statement, Camacho states three specific aspects. First he points out that the statement has not been recorded by any means. He also clarifies that the file presented by the Public Ministry does not contain the statement of his father.

Finally, present the documentation that accredits family, work and residence in order to discredit possible procedural risks.

By signing the document that contains this declaration, Camacho details the position of governor of Santa Cruz next to his signature.
