AREQUIPA, Peru – Chapter 46 of the telenovela is about to be broadcast on the Island Be reborn It has become a hit among fans of the genre, with constant twists and extensive character development that have entertained Cubans for almost four months.
The audiovisual also has a wide range cast of characters who pull the threads of the plot, as well as actors, more or less established in the field, who give life to leading, antagonistic and supporting roles. Among the most notable roles is Iris, a gossipy and imperious neighbor, played by Raiza D’Beche.
The artist gave an interview for the Youtube channel Cuba Today +where she talked about her work on the novel, Iris’s impact on the public and also her daily life.
“I really liked Iris from the moment I started reading her because she is a character who has many contradictions in a short time. It is very funny. I had a lot of fun!” said the actress.
Curiously, D’Beche came to Be reborn in auditions for another character, that of Belkis. However, the directors of the soap opera, after considering her for a role that has not yet been seen on screen, considered that she was the best option for Iris.
As an antagonistic role, with manipulative and even selfish traits, the reception of her work on social media has sometimes upset the young artist, who complains about the inability of some to separate the actress from the character.
“The comments are a bit aggressive sometimes, they are a bit hurtful. People lose perspective a bit (…) I am not Iris, I am Raiza!” she lamented.
As a single mother of a five-year-old girl, her main concern when it started to be broadcast The novel was that the little girl witnessed some lack of respect when they walked down the street.
However, the actress admits that, although the attacks on social media have been harsh, outside of the digital space people have been “calm” and have even shown that they enjoy Iris.
On the other hand, the actress has loved the memes on the Internet about the soap opera. Almost from the first episodes, Iris took her two nieces from the countryside in Havana and guided them with an iron fist. In that sense, Internet users have created images of the trio comparing them to Cinderella’s stepmother and her daughters, or to Cruella, the iconic villain of The 101 Dalmatians.
The production of the drama took about six months to shoot, and will be broadcast over 90 episodes. Although it was long, “chaotic” and at times exhausting, D’Beche remembers that it was rewarding and highlights the fraternity between the crew and the actors.
As one of the most uncomfortable elements of her character, the artist commented that one of the things that was most difficult for her was to bear the long, pointed nails that characterize Iris.
The choice was entirely intentional during the creation of paperbut the actress never got used to it. In her daily life, she explained, she never wears her nails long, she doesn’t even paint them to avoid it getting in the way of other work she does in the theatre.
Raiza D’Beche showed her interest and talent for the performing arts from an early age. According to a profile on the portal CubaActorsAs a minor, he joined Professor Pedro Fernández’s workshop and at the age of 15 he entered the National School of Art (ENA).
She also studied at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) and transferred her knowledge to theater groups such as Teatro Pálpito and Teatro del Silencio. Her television debut came in 2015, with the soap opera Shared Heartbeatsdirected by Consuelo Ramirez and Felo Ruiz.
