President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva thanked, this Friday (13), the “prayers and words of comfort” he received in recent days due to the health treatment he has been undergoing. Lula released a video on social media in which he appears walking alongside neurosurgeon Marcos Stavale, at the Sírio-Libanês Hospital, in São Paulo.
“Janjinha [a primeira-dama, Janja Lula da Silva] He passed on all the messages to me. I ask you to remain calm. I’m firm and strong! Walking the halls […]talking a lot, eating well and, soon, ready to return home and continue working and taking care of each Brazilian family”, wrote Lula.
The high forecast is maintained for the beginning of next week. The medical team, led by Lula’s personal doctor, Roberto Kalil, states that the president’s neurological examination is normal. The recommendation is for “relative rest” in the coming weeks.
“2025 is coming and we have many meetings around Brazil and the world. Thank you for your affection and for all the dedication of the medical team. The love I receive always keeps me ready to move forward!”, added the president in the message on social media.
Domestic accident
On October 19, Lula fell in the bathroom of his official residence, hit his head and needed five stitches in the back of his head. Since then, he has made several imaging exams which showed a small intracranial hemorrhage, was being monitored, but had not undergone any intervention.
On the night of last Monday (9), he felt headaches and, after tests carried out at Sírio-Libanês in Brasília, he was transferred to the hospital unit in São Paulo, where he underwent a emergency surgery (called trepanation) to drain the hematoma, on Tuesday (10). This Thursday morning (12), he also underwent an endovascular procedure (embolization of the middle meningeal artery) to reduce the risk of a new hematoma forming in the region between the skull bone and the brain.
Lula already left the ICU and remains hospitalized in semi-intensive care.
