“I am at the beginning of my career, they will have to put up with me for a few more years”: Portuguese José Mourinho assured this Friday that he still felt “young” when he reached a 20-year career as a professional football coach.
“Compared to who I was 20 years ago, in terms of motivation, in terms of living my profession, nothing has changed,” said the 59-year-old technician during a press conference at the Faculty of Human Motricity of the University of Lisbon , from which he graduated in 1987.
Winner a few days ago of the first edition of the Conference League with Roma against Feyenoord (1-0) adding the fifth European title to his record, Mourinho stated that he faces the finals in the same way.
“This final, my 18th, except for a mistake, was no different from my first, the UEFA Cup with Porto in 2003,” he said.
“A few days before there is a special tension, similar in the hours that precede the match. The 90 minutes of the game are where I feel calmest, without emotions, then they come back with the final whistle, ”he continued.
The Portuguese, in addition, was coach of prestigious teams such as Chelsea, Real Madrid or Inter Milan and went down in history for being the first to be crowned in the three European club leagues (Champions, Europe and Conference League).
