The president said he will maintain dialogue with leaders and that he will not send projects of personal interest or political parties, only projects of “vital interest to the Brazilian people”. “I will never send a bill to the House of Representatives or the Senate without first hearing the leadership of political parties, which will fight inside to approve these projects. After the meeting, the Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha, said that the government should present to parliamentarians next week the priority projects of the executive for the next two years.

According to him, the priorities are proposed to stimulate the micro and small entrepreneur, the exemption of income tax for those who receive up to R $ 5,000, projects in the area of ​​education, such as the new National Education Plan, and to confront the changes climate, as well as proposals to combat digital crimes.

Senate

Senator David Alcolumbre was elected with 73 of the 81 votes Senators, competing with Senators Marcos Pontes (PL-SP) and Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE). The president of the Senate is also the head of the Legislature and, therefore, he presides over the National Congress. Alcolumbre has already held the same function between 2019 and 2021.

Today, he said he wants to make a strong, haughty, balanced legislature and that he could truly give the answers to Brazilian society in partnership with the executive branch.

For alcohumbre, the meeting with the president of the country, right after the elections of the Congress, Senate and Câmara tables is a gesture of institutional maturity. “We do not have time to create crisis where it does not exist, because our time has to be used fully to deliver to people,” he said.

“We need to surrender as a legislature, we need to support the government’s agenda, we need to debate at the People’s House, in the National Congress, to improve all these important priority agendas for the government, including participating more initiatives from Parliament,” He added.

Chamber

The federal deputy Hugo Motta was elected As mayor with 444 votes from the 513 deputies, competing with Marcel Van Hattem (Novo-RS) and Pastor Henrique Vieira (PSOL-RJ). At 35, Motta will be the youngest president of the house since the country’s redemocratization.

After the meeting with Lula, he said he will be available to build a positive agenda for the country. “This harmony, I think, which is what Brazil needs,” he said.
