Residents in San Juan took the streets to show opposition to the exploitation of the Romero mining project, located along with fifteen mining exploration concessions, in the center of the southern slope of the central mountain range, recently declared by UNESCO as the mother of the waters.
This time, the convenings were the evangelical community of the province of San Juan, represented by the fellowship of Evangelical Ministers and Churches of San Juan (Comies), Pastoral Union Vision of the Lo one, Pastoral and Ministerial Alliance (Alpamis), Pastoral and Ministerial Community of Villa Liberation “Esperanza Viva” and the block of shepherds united by Christ Córbano Sur, together with priests and parishes Catholics of the Diocese of San Juan.
The most recent mobilization, last weekend, was developed through the slogans: “Water yes, gold no”, “Water is a treasure, which is worth more than gold” and “Outside Gol Quest.”
The manifestations have the support of the southwest movement linked by water and life, which leads that struggle and the National Popular Coordinator (CPN), where the generality of social and environmental movements of the country converges.

It is remembered that it is not the first time that the population of the Valley takes the streets, against the announcement of the Gold Quest to exploit a mining project that would open the door and that the main water producing source of the island could put at risk and severely affect the agricultural, health and the environment throughout the southwest.
