Faith made its way again. Thousands of devotees participated today, in the traditional pilgrimage and followed the route of the Virgen de Cocharcas, which left from the atrium of the Cathedral of Huancayo to the Sapallanga district, on a 13 km walk that lasted for more than five hours.
The tour was headed by the Archbishop of Huancayo, Monsignor Luis Alberto Huamán Camayo, who accompanied the faithful from beginning to end, sharing prayers, songs and reflection in one of the largest religious festivities in the Mantaro Valley.
Throughout Calle Real, the Virgin was received with emotion by schools, parishes and families that adorned the streets with altars and floral carpets as a symbol of her devotion and love for our mother.
In Sapallanga, the children of the Virgen de Cocharcas Educational Institution, sang in Quechua, such as the squads or known as those chosen by Mamacha Cocharcas, during their appearance.
Something curious during the Mamacha Cocharcas route is that a devotee waited on the road with his new truck. “To the Virgin of Cocharcas, we have a lot of faith, so we are accompanying her, that she always protects us and we from her blessings,” said Lilia Capcha Flores.
Other orders were for health. “Virgencita, I have been operated twice I entrust myself and I’m here, following your way,” said Leonor Pascual de Quispe.
The neighbors of the neighborhood that bears his name Cocharcas, also waited for her with an altar with a replica. They had a mantle used by the Virgin and now they had it to give the blessing to the walkers.
The pilgrimage culminated in the San Pedro de Sapallanga parish, chaired by the Monsignor and the priests of the vicaria, congregating a crowd that, after the long walk thanked and asked for the intercession of the Virgin of Cocharcas.
“This pilgrimage has exceeded expectations and has been an experience of walking together, as a community of faith next to our Blessed Mother. She has inspired us to get here, excited and with joy for this act of devotion,” said the archbishop during the day, highlighting the delivery and fervor of the devotees.
The meeting concluded with the blessing to all present and a call to maintain the faith on in each family and in each heart. The holiday will continue this Sunday and Monday, with the eve and the central day in honor of the Virgin of Cocharcas.
