The Foundation for Development and Social Innovation (FdDSI) officially launched the observatory of Human Rights in Nicaragua in a second phase that integrates the artificial intelligence in the search elements within its website. The observatory aims to document, analyze and disseminate the violations that occur in Nicaragua, thus creating a database of cases of repression and aggression since the beginning of the crisis in 2018.
For the organization, the storage of this data will also serve as a basis for the democratization process and the next steps in demanding justice in an eventual democratic transition in the country. “We have successfully developed and trained an AI chatbot, designed to provide comprehensive information on human rights, complaint mechanisms and avenues for citizen participation,” says the organization.
The Chatbot which was named “Solara” was successfully developed on the website https://nicaraguamemoriajusticia.org/, and allows users to quickly and fluidly access reliable data. With this technological update, the organization hopes that more Nicaraguans interested in human rights will access the site to obtain information more quickly and easily.

The Chatbot is located at the bottom right of the website, it is displayed as a chat window and the user can ask questions, request information on how to file a complaint, and also offers information on how to actively participate in the defense of human rights. The AI will respond in real time as if it were a human.
This new artificial technology system will respond in any language, offer the user a detailed guide on how to file a complaint, and is also capable of providing the Internet user with audiovisual and recorded materials on the political crisis that Nicaragua is experiencing under the Ortega dictatorship. It also contains information on the Human Rights of Nicaraguans.
AI chat is a relatively new invention (2020), and it allows humans to chat with a bot in a fluid and coherent manner as if it were another human. This technology was developed by OpenAI, a company that specializes in creating artificial intelligence solutions and uses large amounts of data for this.
