Human and guild organizations require humanitarian measure for Rocío San Miguel

Several civil and union organizations demand the freedom of the human rights defender Rocío San Miguel, who is serving a year imprisoned this next February 9


Non -governmental organizations, which defend the fundamental rights in Venezuela, demand a humanitarian measure for the activist and defender of the human rights Rocío San Miguel, who is a few days after fulfilling a year of their detention, on February 9.

They also demanded that Kingdom of Spain its performance to guarantee the integrity of San Miguel, who has Spanish citizenship.

The demand was made through social networks, where they developed a campaign in favor of liberation and a humanitarian measure so that San Miguel is attended by a doctor, for health complications during their seclusion.

Among the organizations that disseminated messages on Tuesday, February 4 are the Justice and Peace Center, Public Space, Prova, Human Rights Center of the Andrés Bello Catholic University, as well as trade organizations: National College of Journalists and Association of Teachers of the Central University of Venezuela.

 

The NGOs also denounced the violations of the fundamental rights of San Miguel during the imprisonment and also the arbitrariness on the case, among which are the lack of opening of the formal initiation of the trial and the impediment of being legally assisted by its lawyer trust.

They stated that Rocío San Miguel, who was arrested with his relatives at the Maiquetía airport last year, requires urgent medical care, for a fracture in his right shoulder, which he has suffered for more than 6 months.

“We ask the Venezuelan government to grant a humanitarian measure and freedom to Rocío that allows him to be attended by doctors of his trust and be operated in freedom. In addition to respect for due process, ”says the supply message.

The NGO argues that the human rights activist has the right to go to their trusted doctors and cannot be subject to an intervention “for those who delayed months to diagnose it.” They consider that in imprisonment there are no conditions for the postoperative or decent rehabilitation.

“Rocío is entitled to his doctors of his trust, not to a system that denies effective and timely attention,” says one of the published messages.

Rocío San Miguel remains detained at the headquarters of the Sebin of El Helicoid, to the west of Caracas. At the time, when he was about to travel with his family, he was arbitrarily arrested by police officers at the airport with five other relatives. His ex -husband, moving away González, still remains detained.

During the presentation hearing, the court second with competition in Terrorism matter requested a private measure against Rocío San Miguel for the crimes of: betrayal of the country, conspiracy, terrorism and association, among others.
