Although the mother managed to be rescued alive by members of the indigenous community and remains under medical supervision, The minor did not suffer the same fate. His body was later found after an intense community search that lasted overnight.

“In the last few hours, there have been moderate to heavy rains in some municipalities of the department. As a result of this rainfall, some new emergencies occurred, including an unfortunate event in the municipality of Íquira, where There was a landslide in the Caloto areaspecifically in the perimeters of the Nasa Páez indigenous reservation that left the 6-year-old girl dead,” said Orlando Garzón Garzón, coordinator of the Huila Risk Management Office.

For this reason, they called on rural communities, especially those located in hillside areas, to take extreme self-protection measures, Avoid traveling on unstable roads and immediately report any signs of instability in the terrain, such as cracks, unusual noises or earth movements.
