The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta, said on Tuesday (29) that awaiting official demonstrations of the Ministry of Justice and the Italian government about the arrest of federal deputy Carla Zambelli. On social networks, the parliamentarian said he learned of the event by the press and received preliminary information from Justice Minister Ricardo Lewandowski. 
“It is important to remember that the measures that fit the House are already being adopted, through the representation that is being processed in the CCJC, in obedience to the Regiment and the Constitution. It is not up to the house to deliberate on the arrest – only about the loss of mandate,” said Motta.
Zambelli was arrested by the Italian police this afternoonin Rome. The deputy had fled from Brazil shortly after being sentenced by the Supreme Federal Court (STF) in May this year, 10 years in prison for invasion of electronic systems of the National Council of Justice (CNJ). Since then, she was fugitive from the Brazilian justice and on Interpol’s list of wanted.
In a statement, the Federal Police states that “the prisoner was sought by crimes committed in Brazil and will be submitted to the extradition process, according to the procedures provided for in the Italian legislation and in the international agreements of which Brazil is a signatory.”
The STF’s decision also condemned Zambelli to the loss of mandate after the end of all possible resources
