The general manager of Petroperú, Hugo Chavezwas pronounced after the Public Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Crimes of Corruption requested his temporary dismissal because it is being investigated for the alleged crimes of simple collusion and incompatible negotiation for allegedly having favored the company Heaven Petroleum Operators (HPO) in the purchase of US$ 74 million in biodiesel.
In dialogue with Willax, Chávez reiterated that he does not know the owner of HPO, Samir Abudayeh, and that President Pedro Castillo did not bring them together in the same space.
“At no time have I come across Samir (Abudayeh) and at no time has the president summoned me with this man. How does this fall apart (alleged favoring)? The man is a recurring supplier of Petroperú “, said.

The Petroperú official also assured that he did not intervene in the biodiesel tender in favor of the Abudayeh company.
“The purchase was made 10 days after I arrived at the general management. That purchase was scheduled 5 months earlier. I didn’t program it. (…) It is annulled because at the next hour the subsequent control, and due to the scandal that appeared on television, I request a report on that tender from the supply chain and legal”, he indicated.
Hugo Chávez also accused Zenaida Calderón, who warned of irregularities in the tender, of having “covered up everything bad that the previous board of directors has done.”

Calderón Anticona, who was the corporate manager of Compliance at Petroperú, was fired after submitting a report in which she informed the board of directors of the state company that detected shortcomings in the recruitment process attributable to officials of the institution itself who participated in it.
