The National Assembly (AN) unanimously approved the request made by the Supreme Court of Justice to waive Hugbel Roa’s parliamentary immunity, with the aim of continuing the trial against him for committing acts of corruption.
The request was presented by the deputy and president of the Bloque de la Patria, Diosdado Cabello, who presented an urgent motion.
This, after receiving a communication from the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), where it is verified that their participation in acts of corruption was determined.
For this reason, Cabello stated that the deputy is part of the investigations carried out by the Public Ministry (MP).
“The MP has started the investigation and includes a deputy and from the bench of the revolution, complying with what is established in the Constitution,” said Cabello.
It should be remembered that, this weekend, the deputy Hugbel Roa (Psuv-Trujillo) was arrested. Roa is pointed out as an alleged operator of the oil industry and especially with the state-owned Petrocedeño.
Due to these investigative events, 19 people have been detained, including officials from public institutions and judges from the Judiciary.
Earlier, the AN approved the Draft Agreement in Support of the Investigation and Fight against Corruption undertaken by the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
During the project presentationCabello recalled that these investigations began last year, and are headed by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
In the same way, he indicated that, after the investigations, this weekend the corresponding arrests of the perpetrators began to be carried out, so that they can be tried according to what is established in the Constitution.
