Huarmey completes its first agro-export of Kent mango to European markets

The province of Huarmey took a key step in its productive development by carrying out its first export of mango kent to international markets in Europe. The initial shipment, which exceeds 19 tons, marks a milestone for local agriculture and reinforces the region’s agro-export potential.

The fruit was intended for France, Spain, Russia and Netherlandsconsolidating Huarmey’s Kent mango as a competitive product in the global market. This first shipment directly benefits 98 producing families and is emerging as an economic engine for the province.

The internationalization process was possible thanks to the coordinated work between local producers and the technical support of Antaminathe Provincial Municipality of Huarmey, SENASA and the Huarmey Agrarian Agency. These institutions accompanied farmers in the implementation of good agricultural practices, health control and access to international markets.

Looking ahead to 2026, the projection is to reach 200 tons of Kent mango exported, an objective that aims to consolidate Huarmey as a new agro-exporter of Ancash and the north of the country.

Currently, Huarmey has 186 hectares cultivated with Kent and Edward mango, an area that supports the economy of dozens of families and opens new development opportunities. During the current campaign, the responsible management of pesticides was reinforced, as well as sustainability, fair trade and direct marketing programs from the producer to the exporter.

The producer Óscar Ascencios was one of the first to start the campaign, with the shipment of 19.60 tons. An additional 40 tons are expected to be shipped in the coming days.

Looking ahead to 2026, the projection is to reach 200 tons of Kent mango exported, an objective that aims to consolidate Huarmey as a new agro-exporter of Ancash and the north of the country, under a sustainable growth model with a direct impact on the local economy.
