The Second Provincial Corporate Criminal Prosecutor’s Office of Aucayacu obtained a conviction of 18 years in prison against Abner Jara, after demonstrating his responsibility in the crime of touching and acts of sexual connotation to the detriment of his two minor daughters.
The provincial deputy prosecutor, Patricia Sánchez de Solís, presented compelling evidence that allowed the Judiciary to apply a sanction of nine years of imprisonment for each of the victims, adding an exemplary punishment for the aggressor.
The events were recorded in the hamlet of San Antonio de Padua, in the province of Marañón, where Jara took advantage of his family relationship to violate the minors. According to the prosecution, the first victim with the initials KAJJ (10) suffered the abuse five times during 2019, while she was visiting her father at her paternal grandmother’s house. The convicted man used the moments when they were alone to carry out inappropriate touching.
Likewise, it was determined that the second victim, with the initials DYJJ, lived a similar ordeal since 2017, when she was barely 13 years old and moved to her father’s home. The abuse against her continued systematically for two years, until on August 5, 2019, the minor decided to break the silence and tell her mother what happened. This complaint was the starting point for the Public Ministry to begin the investigation that today culminates with the internment of the person responsible in a penitentiary center.
Finally, in addition to the custodial sentence, the court ruling establishes that Abner Jara must pay civil compensation of 10,000 soles in favor of the injured parties, with 5,000 soles corresponding to each of the minors.
With this ruling, the Public Ministry reaffirms its commitment to protecting the physical and psychological integrity of the most vulnerable sectors of society, achieving a drastic sanction for those who attack the sexual freedom of children and adolescents.
