Huancayo: Public Servants and Negars require dialogue with Mayor of Chilca in the midst of protests

Public Servants of the Unitary Union of Municipal Workers (Sutramun) and Fair of the Coto Coto Fair starred in a protest on Monday at the headquarters of the Provincial Municipality of Chilca. The manifestations were made in claim for the breach of labor agreements and restrictions imposed for the National Livestock Fair quasimodo 2025.

The municipal workers denounced that the commune would not be fulfilling the previously established collective agreement. “The officials raised the salary to 6 thousand soles, but we only want to increase 50 soles. With that we do not even reach the minimum vital salary,” said a public servant during the demonstration.

With banners and harangues like “If there is no solution, there is no quasity”the protesters entered the mayor’s office, demanding the presence of Mayor César Damas Laurente. They warned that, if not attended, they will radicalize their protest and could start an indefinite strike.

At the same time, about 50 merchants from the traditional Coto Coto Fair congregated outside the municipality to demand that they are allowed to work on Sunday, April 27 in their usual positions, within the framework of the feast of Quasimodo.

“We pay monthly to the Huancayo Charity Society for those positions and should be respected. But now the Municipality wants to charge us 150 soles just for that day,” explained one of the traders. As reported, last week they sent a document exposing their situation, but so far they have not received a response from the authorities. “They close, they tell us that it is 150 yes or yes, but we have worked on those positions for years,” they added.
