Huancayo: police clear streets with tear gas by rioters who do not abide by a truce

According to images from TV Peru, the Police used tear gas to clear the main streets, avenues and shreds of Huancayo, where there were pickets of protesters who, despite knowing the agreed truces, did not show a predisposition to release citizen roads.

These same people also tried to prevent the exit of the 6 ministers from the Wanka Coliseum, however, this did not go further and the officials managed to quickly leave the premises.

Regional reports specified that within the protesters several criminals and unruly people were detected who began to struggle at the doors of closed businesses.

Canal N reported that at the intersection of Calle Real and Jirón Huánuco, some subjects forced the door of a chicken shop and encouraged a new looting.

Until the closing of this note, the Huancayo Police reported that they have controlled a large part of all the demonstration points in order to restore public order.

Truces in Huancayo

The Government managed to finalize and sign minutes of dialogue with transport and agriculture leaders after the friction and divided table that was installed in the Wanka Coliseum, in Huancayo. With this, it was agreed to suspend the strike for 5 days.

It was reported that the signed minutes were negotiated at different dialogue tables inside the coliseum, where transporters and farmers reached important partial agreements, such as the next unblocking of roads in Junín.

“This truce (with farmers) that they have told us we are going to assume responsibly under commitments… the agreement is that we have to work under a timeline, we have already raised the issue such as the price of fertilizer and milk”indicated Óscar Zea, Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation.

On the other hand, the agreement with transporters was given in a document signed at the table of the Minister of Culture, Alejandro Salas, and in this it was agreed to release the tracks. This highlights the reduction of the Selective Consumption Tax (ISC) on fuels by 90%.

Likewise, the Executive will present a bill to Congress to exempt the production chain from VAT payment of certain key foods for the family basket such as chicken, eggs, flour and noodles.

The routes would be unblocked in the next few hours and everything that has been finalized will be communicated to the other guilds involved in this strike.
