Huancayo: Patients wait 20 hours and wake up to get an appointment at the Carrión hospital

Patients and their families have to queue for more than 20 hours to get an appointment for the physical medicine and rehabilitation service at the Daniel Alcides Carrión hospital.

Yesterday around 10 in the morning, there were at least 30 people in a long line where we found old people, mothers with babies in their arms, women and men.

“I arrived at 3 in the morning, I will stay all day, in the afternoon, I will sleep at night and early morning so that on Friday (today) at 7 in the morning they give us the quota, for physical medicine and rehabilitation, I I suffer from back pain and even so I was left in the cold, this is not fair, but there is no other way to get the appointment ”, said 73-year-old Alejandro Rafael.

Susana Rosales Rojas, resigned, commented that she also had to stay to get an appointment for her father-in-law who is a patient with a disability.

We have to endure the rain and the cold on the street, it’s a drama to get an appointment, but there are only 45 places if you’re behind, you don’t get it, you have to be a day before “ claimed Margarita Contreras Mandujano, whose husband requires an appointment in rehabilitation to treat the pain in the spine.

People said that there are only 45 places, and to get one they have to make a superhuman effort, since a therapy in a private office costs more than 100 soles and a patient needs several.
