The tragedy that left Deyanira Avril García Lazo (21) and her little 3-year-old son seriously injured, run over on Monday by a van from the San Juan company with the CTV-250 plate, has generated deep indignation in Chilca. The family reports that, despite the seriousness of the case, the driver Evelyn Suárez Camposano was released after 48 hours, while the victims remain in critical condition.
The minor’s grandmother, Vilma Lazo, described the painful situation that the family faces. “My grandson is in the ICU at the Children’s Hospital in Lima, he is in critical condition, we fear that he will lose his right arm. They operated on Deyanira’s hip, they removed the clotted blood from her ankle and they are going to see if they need a graft in her leg.”she said through tears.
Lazo claimed that the process is not moving forward and asked for justice. “The lady responsible does not even come to show empathy, we ask for justice, please.”
For his part, Glorimar Nieves, a merchant whose stall was destroyed, also showed his indignation. “That woman must return to the cell where she should not have left. All the accidents in Huancayo and Chilca are due to vans, I don’t know what kind of people they give the wheel to”. She was also affected financially and claims to have lost 100% of her materials and work supplies.
The family of Deyanira and the child demand that the case not go unpunished and that the driver be strictly punished. While the young mother and her son fight for their lives, their loved ones ask for the urgent intervention of the authorities and for the transport company to assume the human and economic responsibilities derived from this serious accident.
Neighbors point out that this sector (between Próceres and Augusto B. Leguía) is a dangerous area due to the excessive speed of urban transport drivers. “The companies San Juan and Justo Juez are the most reckless, they run to gain passengers. These unfortunate people must be held responsible”said Carmen Salvatierra, adding that this is not the first time that pedestrians passing through the sector are at risk due to the speed of the vans. “I argued several times with the drivers and collectors of these two companies, but they are spoiled” replied Salvatierra.
