A local sports championship ended in tragedy when one player died after being struck by lightning, another was injured. It happened at the Coto Coto stadium in Chica when two teams of Palquino residents were holding a tournament between ๐.๐. ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ฏ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ and ๐.๐. ๐ ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐๐ก๐จ๐๐๐.
Around 4:00 in the afternoon, lightning and thunder fell on the city, so they decided to stop the game. As the teams left the field, lightning struck a goalkeeper and a player. According to witnesses, the wounded were taken in taxis to the Carriรณn hospital in Huancayo where the body of defender Hugo de la Cruz Meza arrived.
The goalkeeper Juan Chocca Llacta is in serious health with burns. Other injured are Erick Estiven Ccente Cuyllor (19), the minor Josep Gustavo P. Ch. (16) and Cristian Cesar Pituy Cahuana (24)
