This weekend, the Huaylarsh Route 2026 will arrive in the capital, with the press conference and official launch at the Government Palace on Friday, February 6, followed by a great cultural parade that will tour the civic center of Lima on Saturday the 7th.
The festival, which takes place from February 5 to April 27, previously toured 45 cultural settings in the Mantaro Valleyincluding districts, peasant communities, population centers and annexes, with the aim of promoting Wanka identity and culture.
During the launch ceremony in the Plaza Huamanmarcamunicipal and regional authorities, as well as representatives of the National Police of Peru and of PromPeruparticipated in the presentation. The activity included a imposing identity gatewaywhere casts showed traditional costumes and tap dancing.
The manager of Economic Promotion and Tourism of the MPH, Lawyer Rene Lazo Rojasexplained that the route includes more than 60 activitiesbetween ancient and modern huaylarsh competitions, akshu tatay, gastronomic, artisanal and agro-industrial festivals and fairs. The most notable event will be national contest “Wanka Nation”which will take place from April 4 to 6 in Huancayo, with the participation of 60 cultural institutions.
It is estimated that the festival will generate more than 2 million solesbenefiting the gastronomy, transportation, tour operators, hotels, agribusiness and crafts sectors, and which will attract among 100 thousand and 140 thousand visitors national and foreign.
The municipal manager, Ing. Joshelim Meza Leónhighlighted that the Huaylarsh Route allows highlight the culture, history and identity of the localities of the Mantaro Valley, showing the visitor an authentic experience of the Wanka tradition.
