The land of Akshu Tatay and the red chicharrón, the district of Sapallanga in the province of Huancayo, inaugurated an imposing viewpoint 28 meters high (approximately nine floors) in honor of its patron saint: the “Mamacha Cocharcas”.
With this new tourist attraction, the district estimates that it will receive approximately 350 thousand visitors per year.
The inauguration took place within the framework of the 169th Anniversary of Political Creation of the Sapallanga district. What stands out most about the viewpoint is the representation of the Virgin of Cocharcas, created over several months in the Mito district by the sculptor Carlos Verástegui Perales.

This work is up to three times larger than the Virgen de Piedra Parada de Concepción and promises to be one of the most important attractions south of Huancayo.
TOURISM. The space also includes a glass walkway from where visitors can take impressive photographs. The complex also has four synthetic grass sports fields and a complete outdoor recreational space.

Gastronomy and crafts are not far behind: at the food stalls you can taste typical dishes from the area such as chicharrón colorado, chicharrón dorado, cuy colorado, cuy chactado and alwish lulo, among others.

The craft stalls offer traditional huanca embroidery, capes from the Negrería de Sapallanga and statuettes from the chonguinada, colla and carachaquis.

SCHEDULES. The viewpoint will be open throughout the year from 08:00 am to 07:00 pm, allowing thousands of devotees and faithful of the “Mamacha Cocharcas” to enjoy panoramic views, surrounded by nature and a spiritual atmosphere.
