The case of the prosecutor specializing in illicit drug trafficking, Ricardo René Rodríguez López, has unleashed a storm in the Public Prosecutor’s Office. A complaint filed by KAHA, a former inmate of the Huamancaca prison, has revealed a series of disturbing facts that call into question the magistrate’s conduct.

According to the complaint, Rodríguez López allegedly committed the crime of sexual rape, taking advantage of his position of power to subdue KAHA
Following his imprisonment in July 2023 for illicit drug trafficking, KAHA was under the jurisdiction of prosecutor Elvira Aldana, who initially handled his case. However, in February 2024, prosecutor Ricardo Rodríguez took over the case, initiating – according to the former inmate – a series of visits to the prison that soon took a dark turn. According to the account, Rodríguez began making sexual advances towards KAHA, using the context of their effective collaboration to exert pressure on him. The ex-convict narrated: “On one occasion, the prosecutor fined a number inside the prison 40 soles for his silence so as not to tell anyone that he was touching me”.

The complaint details how the prosecutor, after having secured KAHA’s release by cessation of preventive detention, continued his approaches, even going so far as to organize his release from prison and taking him to his own home, where the rape was committed. Throughout the story, a pattern of manipulation and abuse of power by the prosecutor is described, who allegedly administered unknown substances to the victim on the day of the assault. Senior Prosecutor Boris Olivera received the complaint and opened the investigation.
