Huancayo: Foreigner sentenced for aggravated robbery in flagrante delicto

The foreigner Jesús Mújica (26) was sentenced to seven years, nine months and 23 days in prison for the crime of aggravated attempted robbery, after a trial carried out by the Fifth Provincial Corporate Criminal Prosecutor’s Office of Huancayo. This is the first sentence obtained by the Flagrancy Pilot Unit in the city.

On November 24, 2025, Mújica intercepted a young woman at the intersection of Ciro Alegría and Mariátegui streets, in the Chilca district, and under threats stole her cell phone. However, the victim asked for help and a police officer who was passing through the area chased the accused until he was captured. The thief tried to get rid of the cell phone, but was stopped and later recognized by the victim.

Deputy prosecutor Flor Morales Bruno presented solid evidence against the convicted man, who had a record of aggravated robbery and other crimes. In addition to the custodial sentence, the foreigner must pay civil compensation to the victim. The sentence will be served in the Huancayo prison.
