Huancayo: Coati enters a house and kills 20 guinea pigs

A family from Jr. Los Incas and Arroyo passage, in the San Francisco neighborhood, in the district of Chilca, reported the presence of a strange animal that entered their home and killed 20 guinea pigs. Serenos and National Police from the district arrived at the scene to help the family.

The owner mentioned that with the help of her neighbor they managed to catch the animal inside a sack, when looking at the animal they verified that it was a Coati or better known as ‘Mishasho’.

The wild animal was placed at the disposal of the Ecological Police Unit in Huancayo for its subsequent release. Law No. 29763, the Forestry and Wildlife Law, identifies as a very serious infraction the possession, acquisition, sale, transformation, storage, commercialization, import or export of specimens, products or by-products of wild fauna without having the corresponding authorization.
