Almost every day, the regions register cases of violence, including sexual violence; and Huancavelica is no exception, since, in the last five years (2017 – 2021), the region registered 699 cases of rape, of which 642 are female victims and 57 are male victims, this, according to the registry that manages Unicef.
Given this, characters from entertainment and music are joining the campaign “Let’s take off the blindfold” that UNICEF is promoting. Among this amalgamation of artists are the members of the “Hermanos Yaipén”: Donnie Yaipén, Alexis Dávila, Javier Yaipén, Fary Martínez and Edward Parket, who, in favor of caring for children and adolescents, created a new version of his song “I need a love”.
SEXUAL VIOLENCE IN THE HUANCAVELICA REGION
According to the UNICEF registry, 21.6% of the minors who were raped, between 2017 and 2021, ended up pregnant; likewise, in 59.5% of rape cases, the aggressor was unknown to the victim.
Also, according to the type of relationship that the victim may have with the aggressor, who is not from their family environment, they are: neighbor (34.1%), brother-in-law (4.3%), teacher (6.3%), fellow student (2.4% ), employer of work (0.7%), co-worker (9.6%), employee of work (7%), lives in the same household (5%), among others.

Likewise, cases of aggressors within the family environment: father or mother (16.7%), stepfather or stepmother (15%), brothers or step-siblings (5.8%), uncle or aunt (15%, cousins (16.3%), grandparents or great-grandparents (9.2%) and another relative (22.1%).
ARTISTS JOIN THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST VIOLENCE
Before their presentation, the members of the Yaipén Brothers expressed their support for the campaign “Let’s take off the bandage” promoted by UNICEF against sexual violence against children and adolescents.
“We received the invitation from the friends of UNICEF Peru, and we are delighted to be able to collaborate with these campaigns, and on this occasion it is a very interesting campaign, and in reality a lot of impetus must be put in so that they can lower those rates of violence” said Donnie.
He also talked about the new version of the song “I need a love. “It was composed with the participation of artists who joined, also representatives of UNICEF, Francisca Aronsson and Marco Zunino. The lyrics promote caring for children and adolescents, and denouncing cases of violence”, added the artist.

“Let’s take care of the little ones in the house, the children and our adolescents,” Edward recommended.
“Those of us who are parents need to be more conscious of caring for our children,” Fary said.
“Let it be a commitment of all of Peru, to take care of children and adolescents,” said Javier.
“Let us be alert and with our eyes wide open, and in any case, denounce the fact. No more violence,” Alexis said.
There are 699 cases of sexual violence against minors, both women and men, in five years; likewise, 21.6% of abused minors, between 2017 and 2021, ended up pregnant; and that, in 34.3% of the cases in these 5 years, the victim had a family relationship with the aggressor.
