The first non -commissioned officer of the National Police of Peru (PNP), José Gabriel Munive Gurmendi, a native of Huancayo, lost his life after a violent confrontation with armed criminals in the Lima de la Victoria district.

The incident occurred when a group of subjects who were traveling on a motorcycle intercepted a truck loaded with groceries. When they were surprised by a police unit, the criminals opened fire, unleashing a shooting in full public road.
During the shooting, the noncommissioned officer Munive Gurmendi was seriously injured. Although he was immediately helped, he died in fulfillment of his duty. His partner, the non -commissioned officer of Carpio Valdez, was also injured and remained hospitalized with a reserved prognosis at the Hospital 2 de Mayo.
The National Police of Peru expressed their condolences through a statement on social networks:
“The National Police of Peru expresses its deep regret for the death of the S1 PNP José Gabriel Munive Gurmendi, who in fulfillment of his duty lost his life in an armed confrontation with criminals in the district of La Victoria, Lima. His delivery and commitment honor the spirit of service of our institution. Honor and glory!”

Likewise, the Presidency of the Republic regretted the death of cash and extended its condolences to the non -commissioned family, highlighting its courage and sacrifice.
Munive Gurmendi, is remembered by his colleagues as a police officer committed to citizen security and a strong sense of duty.
