After the huaico registered in the province of Caravelí, which caused the death of a driver, versions began to circulate on social networks and at a national level that warned of the alleged disappearance of more people, in addition to the already confirmed victim.
Given these rumors, this medium spoke with the young man Leonel Coila Paredes, driver of one of the units that he was in the area at the time of the landslide and that he managed to get to safety with his family.
According to him, when the huaico occurred, two vehicles owned by his family were parked on the spot. When they noticed the force of the slide, they tried to move them to the sides to prevent them from being dragged; However, the magnitude of the huaico ended up affecting both units, images that were later spread on social networks.
Coila Paredes stated that he, his father and other relatives managed to flee to a higher area, avoiding a greater tragedy.
Regarding the unit that was swept away by the huaicoclarified that only two people were traveling in the vehicle: the driver identified as Juan Carlos Mamani Cahuana (deceased) and his co-pilot, who managed to save himself after getting out of the vehicle and reaching the point where they would be safe. The deceased driver would have tried to get the unit to safety when he was hit by the force of the huaico.
In addition, ruled out that there are other units involved in the incidentpointing out that vehicular traffic in the area is not constant, so it cannot confirm the versions about more missing people.
In addition, this medium consulted with medical and police sources in the jurisdiction, who reported that So far no family members have come forward. Representatives of any mining company also did not approach police stations or health centers to inquire about people missing as a result of this event.
