HSBC Uruguay appoints Constantino Gotsis as its new CEO

Starting next April, Constantino Gotsis will be the new CEO of the HSBC bank for Uruguay.

In a statement issued by HSBC it is recognized that Gotsis “brings with him extensive experience in the financial industry and throughout his career, which includes a stint in Uruguay, he has demonstrated a solid ability to lead teams and direct growth processes.”

In his new role, he will be in charge of directing all the company’s operations and ensuring that the successful performance that HSBC Uruguay has been showing in recent years continues, reaching and exceeding its strategic and financial objectives and leading the transformation of banking in the country towards a more digital model while maintaining personalized attention.

“It is a great joy and an enormous challenge to assume the leadership of HSBC Uruguay, an operation that stands out in the region for its strength and solidity, as well as for the professionalism of the team of collaborators that make it up. In that team, with his experience and its closeness to clients when doing business is that we will continue the path of the bank in the country”, Gotsis stated.

Geoffrey Fichte, who served for the last five years as CEO of HSBC Uruguay, will assume a new position in the group, as CEO of HSBC in Malta, leading the bank’s operation in that country.

The career of the new CEO of HSBC

Until now, Gotsis served as Director of Personal Banking for HSBC Argentina, a position he held since he joined the bank in 2016.

Previously, he held different positions at Citigroup, first in Argentina and later in Uruguay, Chile, Peru and the United States. In fact, in Uruguay he was CEO of Citibank (2001-2004), president of Unión Capital and president of the Electronic Stock Exchange (BEVSA), among other senior positions.

Constantino Gotsis is an Actuary graduated from the University of Buenos Aires, he is 62 years old, married and has three children.
