MSP issued recommendations
The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) made, through a video on its Twitter account, “a series of recommendations to face these days of extreme cold with the aim of preserving health and preventing possible damage”.
The portfolio separated its recommendations into three topics: shelter, food and heating.
First of all, the MSP pointed out to the population that they have to protect themselves “with appropriate clothing, in multiple layers.”
On the other hand, the portfolio pointed to food and asked to avoid “consumption of excessive calories and alcoholic beverages” because “doing so increases the risk of hypothermia.”
He also recommended consuming “abundant water and liquids to stay hydrated: soup, tea, coffee and mate”; as well as “natural or minimally processed foods for a balanced diet.” In this regard, he asked to eat “cooked, boiled, baked, sautéed or stewed fruits and vegetables”which ideally are “of station”.
Finally, the ministry stressed the importance of check “heating equipment by qualified technicians before starting to use it” and keep “open a door or window while the heating equipment is on”.
