How will the voting be in the internal elections on December 18?

On December 18, internal elections will be held in the different parties and political groups that will compete in the general elections next year. For these elections, it is important to clear up doubts and be certain of the voting mechanism.

More than 4,800,000 people they find each other authorized to vote on Sunday, December 18 when they develop the internal partyaccording to data from the Superior Court of Electoral Justice (TSJE).

The Colorado Party, the PLRA together with the National Concertation are the main competitors in this electoral contest which is done as prior to the national elections of April 2023.

WHO CAN VOTE IN THE INTERNAL ELEMENTS?

All those people who are affiliated with different parties, movements and political groups who will fight in the 2023 General Elections, which includes the traditional parties (ANR, PLRA, UNACE, Patria Querida, etc) and other sectors.

IF I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY PARTY, CAN I VOTE?

Just in the specific case of the National Concertation, those not affiliated with any party and who are registered will have the opportunity to go to the polls to vote thanks to the authorization granted by the Electoral Court, That allowed the use of the National Register for their interns.

In this way, all those who are included in the Permanent Civic Registry will be able to vote in the inmates of December 18but only to vote for one of the presidential formulas proposals by the Agreement.

IF I AM COLORADO, CAN I VOTE IN THE CONCERTATION INTERNAL PARTIES?

Bearing in mind that the resolution of the TSJE, the colorados also appear in the register of the Concertaciónalthough The ANR is not part of this political nucleation which brings together the PLRA and other opposition parties.

Regardless of this detail, it should be noted that you cannot “double vote” as it is forbidden to vote more than once on the same election daysince it is considered as a electoral crime.

In case eventually a data crossing is carried out and it is found that a voter voted in more than one electionthe fact may lead to the opening of a criminal case before the Public Ministry what later could result in a charge.

IF I AM NOT AFFILIATED, WHO CAN I VOTE FOR IN THE CONCERTATION?

For whom it is are not part of any of the political parties who are members of the opposition and just be registered, will have the possibility to vote for one of the presidential badges which are in dispute, not so because of the different internal candidacies.

This means that people without political affiliation can vote at the polling station only for two candidacies: President and Vice President. In the case of Central Department votersalso may do so for the office of governor.

WHAT DO I NEED TO GO TO VOTE?

As in previous elections, it will only be required the presentation of the identity card. Equal expired certificates will be validnot so photocopies, as well as other documents (passports, driving licenses, membership cards, etc.).
