With tears of pain and banners in hand, a crowd of people – including survivors and relatives of the victims of the Jet Set nightclub roof collapsewhich occurred on April 8, 2025— marched this Sunday afternoon in the municipality of Haina, in the San Cristóbal province, to demand justice.
The peaceful march, called by the Justice Jet Set Movementtogether with the group The Golden Hainerosleft from Duarte Street to the commemorative mural that remembers those who died in the tragedy, located in the El Distrito sector, in Bajos de Haina.
“The people of Haina are totally sorry and that is why we are giving support to this group that is following up on the Jet Set case. We totally agree and we are going to support them until the last hours,” he declared. Julio Berroapresident of Clud Los Haineros Dorados.
“It is unfortunate that all these people have died due to the greed of one person. My daughter is priceless, my daughter nor any of those who died there have a price. For his part, the priest Rogelio Cruz He warned that, given the magnitude of the event, there is no other way than to apply justice and requested that April 8 be declared a day of national mourning.
“What Montesino did at the beginning, these are not human beings, they are not human beings who died in the Jet Set; they do not deserve, in this case, to be treated as they should be treated, to be given the justice that has been applied to them. That is what we are demanding. Furthermore, for several mourners, declaring April 8 as a day of national mourning would be a way to highlight the memory of those who died in the tragedy,” the religious said.
Meantime, Ana Maria Ramirezpresident of the Justice for the Jet Set Movement, asked the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, to refer to the tragedy that left more than 230 dead in his accountability speech, scheduled for next February 27.
“We ask the president that on February 27, Our National Independence Day, in his accountability speech, he speak out about this tragedy. We do not want him to be absent, we do not want him to be indifferent,” said the survivor of the collapse.
It is recalled that, for the incident, the Public Ministry held the brothers responsible Antonio and Maribel Espaillatprosecuted for involuntary manslaughter and for involuntary beatings and injuries.
