How to stop the rise of the dollar? What Duke advised Petro

The dollar in Colombia has been on the rise for several weeks, achieving historical prices, and November 2022 has positioned the currency above the barrier of 5,000 pesos.

The foreign exchange market It does not seem that it is going to change its recent trend any time soon, and Colombians must now analyze the best way to respond for their debts in dollars, or for possible trips or expenses that they are going to make and that involve that currency.

With a complex panorama, in which external situations (such as the war in Ukraine) and internal situations (such as the hydrocarbon policy defended by the Government) are affecting the price of the place, former president Ivan Duque appeared to ‘guide’ the current national president, Gustav Petro, and advise him on the mission to stop the US currency.

This Monday, November 7, Duque appeared at the Colombia stand at the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2022 (COP 27), in Egypt, and talked about the dollar.

He said, among other things, that it will be important to maintain foreign confidence in the country or the devaluation of the peso will continue.

(See: Dollar to five thousand: how could entrepreneurs protect themselves?).

We must maintain confidence in the country, continue bringing investment to Colombia and the country can stabilize its currency because there are several currencies that have been depreciating. A year 2023 is coming that can be very hard and if confidence is not maintained, the devaluation will continueDuke commented.

During his appearance in Egypt, the former president was at an event in which he spoke about Colombia’s experience declaring 30% of its territory as a protected area.

The words of the former president were known after Petro gave his speech at COP 27, in which he insisted that hea solution to the environmental crisis in the world is put oil and coal aside.

(See: Dollar at $5,000: how the historic devaluation of the peso is explained).

It is time to devalue the hydrocarbon economy with defined dates for its end and to value the branches of the decarbonized economy. The solution is a world without oil and without coalPetro said.
