The request made through the Saren website generates a certified legalized copy. If you need an apostille, you must complete a different procedure
To obtain a certified copy of your birth certificate, it is not necessary that you go to an office of the Autonomous Service of Registries and Notaries of Venezuela (Saren). The platform allows you to complete the process online and relatively quickly.
Since 2023, the Saren has enabled the option on its website to carry out various procedures online, including the request for birth certificates, death certificates and marriage certificates.
Below is the step by step to request a certified cup of your birth certificate.
- Enter the Saren portal, clicking on saren.gob.ve
2. In order to carry out any procedure you must have a username or create an account. If you already have your username, you just have to log in with your ID and password. It asks you to verify and sends you a code to the registered phone number. If you do not have an account, you must register.

3. Go to the “Procedures” section in the menu and then you must select the Main Registration option so that you can process the birth certificate.

4. Select the type of document: “Certified Copies” or “Legalizations”. In this case, you continue with certified copies.

5. Choose the type of documents you want to request and complete the information corresponding to the state and the registry office. In this case “birth certificate.”

6. Complete the form with the exact data from the birth certificate. It is important to have complete and correct information.

7. Upload the scanned documents requested: identity card and a simple copy of the birth certificate in PDF format.

8. Once the request is confirmed, the payment order is generated. You can pay the procedure at the Banco de Venezuela online or at a bank branch.

9. Once the request is processed, you will receive a notification by email. You can download the document directly from the Saren portal.

If the birth certificate is not in the Saren system, you must go in person to the Civil Registry or Prefecture office where it was registered to request it in person.
The online application generates a certified legalized copy. If you need an apostille, you must complete a different procedure.
