The current minimum wage is $1,423,000 plus $200,000 in transportation assistance.
News Colombia.
The minimum wage in Colombia for 2025 is currently set at $1,423,000, plus a transportation allowance of $200,000, leaving a total monthly remuneration of $1,623,000 for workers who earn the minimum.
In recent weeks, different projections have been made regarding the increase in the minimum wage for the year 2026. The most prudent estimates range between 6.5% and 7%, which would represent an increase of between $90,995 and $99,110, placing the new minimum wage in a range that goes from $1,515,495 to $1,522,610, plus the corresponding transportation allowance.
However, the National Government has hinted that its proposal could greatly exceed those figures. According to preliminary information, the official increase that the Executive will present will be 11% over the current base of $1,423,000, which would take the minimum wage to approximately $1,579,000, not including the aid.
The Minister of Labor, Armando Benedetti, in recent statements, indicated that the Government’s purpose is to substantially improve the purchasing power of Colombians. He even stated that the minimum wage could reach $1,800,000, an increase that, if materialized, would be the highest in more than two decades.
When @petrogustavo When he became president, the minimum wage was less than one million, this year it could end up at $1,800,000 and a worker earns 100% of his holidays and Sundays. The proposal has generated strong expectations among labor confederations, business associations and economic analysts, who warn that such a high increase could have both positive and risky impacts: on the one hand, it would improve household income; On the other hand, it could put pressure on inflation and formal employment.
The salary negotiation tables will begin in the coming weeks with the participation of representatives of the Government, employers and union centers. The goal will be to reach an agreement before December 15, the deadline established by law to define the increase that will apply from January 1, 2026.
