The celebrations of Christmas and New Year are just around the corner, dates in which many take advantage of to rest and spend time with family or friends. However, there are some people who must work regularly on these holidays.
If you are one of these people, you should know that you will have to receive additional compensation for working these days. Here we explain how much.
How much should I be paid if I work on December 25 and January 1?
According to Sunafil, December 25 and January 1 are national holidays. If you work on any of these dates, without a substitute rest, you have the right to receive three payments:
- The remuneration corresponding to the holiday, already included in your monthly salary.
- An additional daily remuneration for the work performed that day.
- A surcharge of 100% of the daily remuneration, as extra compensation.
That is, if, for example, your salary is 1025 soles, your daily remuneration is equivalent to S/ 34.17. So, by working a holiday you will receive:
- 34.17 for the working day.
- S/ 34.17 as a 100% surcharge.
- In total, you would add an additional S/ 68.34, reflecting on your bill as S/ 1,093.34.
What are the special special cases?
Days that start on previous days: If your shift begins on December 24 and ends on the 25th, you will not receive the 100% surcharge, since it only applies to work that begins and ends on a national holiday.
Coincidence with weekly rest: If the holiday falls on your day of rest, you will not receive additional payment, since both rights overlap.
