How to get to La Cocha Lagoon from Pasto
La Cocha Lagoon is located approximately 40 minutes by car from Pasto. To get there, you have several options:
• Public transport: From Pasto, you can take a bus or a shared taxi on Carrera 7 and Calle 21A, near the Nariño Departmental University Hospital. The bus ticket costs around 4,500 Colombian pesos.
• Taxi: You can also opt for a taxi, with an approximate cost of 60,000 to 75,000 Colombian pesos, and a duration of 46 minutes.
Activities and costs in La Cocha Lagoon
Before reaching the port, it is common to stop at a viewpoint where you can admire the lagoon and take photos. Upon reaching the green El Puerto, you will find a variety of restaurants offering typical dishes, with rainbow trout being a local specialty.
Lunches vary depending on the dish, but prices start at 12,000 pesos. You can also enjoy boiled drinks, traditional drinks that cost between 2,000 and 5,000 pesos.

One of the main attractions is the boat ride across the lagoon. Rates vary depending on duration and route:
• Tour to La Corota Island: This tour costs approximately 100,000 Colombian pesos. La Corota Island is a flora and fauna sanctuary; however, the trail on the island is currently closed to protect the local ecosystem.
• Extended tour: Includes a visit to La Corota Island, bird watching at Garzario Flotante and a stop at the Sindamanoy Hotel viewpoint. This tour has an approximate cost of 130,000 Colombian pesos. It is common for visitors to form groups to share the expenses of the tour.
Lodging
If you want to spend more time exploring La Cocha, there are lodging options in the port area. Advance reservations are recommended, especially during peak seasons.
