On December 4, citizens of nine departments of the country must go to their polling place to participate in the second round of regional elections. But what happens if they do not comply with their duty to pay?
A total of 6 million 892,945 citizens of Amazonas, Cajamarca, Callao, Cusco, Lambayeque, Lima Provinces, Moquegua, Pasco and Piura are authorized to attend the amphoras in the Second Regional Election 2022 and elect their respective governors and lieutenant governors.
For election day, the ONPE will set up around 23,578 polling stations in 3,477 polling places in those nine regions. Both polling station members and voters are required to participate in the elections. If they fail in their civic duty, they must pay fines and accept certain restrictions.

WHAT IS THE FINE FOR NOT VOTING IN THE SECOND REGIONAL ELECTION 2022?
The National Election Jury (JNE) ordered the following electoral fines for the Second Regional Election 2022, in accordance with the Law No. 28859 and the classification of the districts carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).

- Omiso who lives in a poor district: S/46.00.
- Missing who lives in extreme poor district: S/23.00.

- Not attending as a board member: S/ 230.00.
- Refusing to form the polling station: S/ 230.00.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T PAY THE ELECTION FINE?
- You will not be able to get your passport.
- You will not be able to register any act related to your marital status (marriage, divorce, widowhood, etc.).
- You may not intervene in judicial or administrative proceedings.
- You will not be able to carry out notarial acts or sign any type of contract.
- You may not be appointed public official.
- You will not be able to enroll in any social program and/or obtain a license.

WHY WILL THERE BE A SECOND ROUND IN THE REGIONAL ELECTIONS?
In a total of nine regions of the country, the second round will take place, because -in the elections on October 2, 2022- none of the candidates reached 30% of valid votes to be elected to the position of regional governor.
In this case, in accordance with the Regional Elections Law (Law 27683), the two formulas with the highest number of votes from each region go to ballot. Elections must be held within 30 calendar days following the proclamation of the official counts.
What is chosen in the elections?
Only to the candidates for governors and lieutenant governors in those places where 30% of the valid votes have not been reached, explained Michell Samaniego, a lawyer specializing in electoral issues in an interview with JNETV. He clarified that the list of advisers is not going to a second round.
HOW MUCH WILL MEMBERS BE PAID IN THE SECOND REGIONAL ELECTION 2022?
The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) announced that, as in the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections of Peru, for the 2022 Second Regional Election they will be paid 120 soles to each of the table members to participate in the electoral day of December 4.
