To understand how admission is distributed in the country, households are divided into 10 groups called “deciles.” Each brings together the same number of homes and is ordered according to their level of income. The first corresponds to 10% with less resources and the tenth to 10% that wins the most. Between both ends are the other groups, from least to greatest.

With this classification, the ENIGH 2024 shows that the national average income per quarter was 77,864 pesos in each home, an increase of 10.6 % compared to 2022. If you look at the panorama since 2016, the growth is 10.8 %, although with setbacks in 2018 and 2020 of −4.2 % and −5.8 %.

In the decil I, which represents households with lower income, the average reached 16,795 pesos, equivalent to 85 pesos a day per perceptor person.

At the midpoint, Decile V reached 54,308 pesos per quarter, with an increase of 13.4 % in two years.

At the upper end, Decile X averaged 236,095 quarterly pesos, which translates into 1,191 pesos a day per perceptor person.

The gap is clear: the highest decile obtains 14 times from what the lowest receives, a difference of 219,300 pesos each quarter. In addition, between 2022 and 2024, the greatest increases were given at the base and the middle part, with increases of up to 14.2 %, while in decile x the progress was 6.4 %.

Average monetary income by sex and age

In 2024, the quarterly average monetary income was 30,160 pesos, 11.8 % more than in 2022. Men reached 36,047 pesos, with an increase of 11.4 %, while women recorded 23,714 pesos, 12.5 % more than two years ago.

The difference between the two is 12,333 pesos per quarter, which means that, on average, men receive 1.52 times the admission of women.

By age, the group of 40 to 49 years had the highest income with 38,454 pesos. Between 30 and 39, the greatest absolute increase was presented, with 4,229 pesos more than in 2022. Young people aged 12 to 19, although with lower income, increased 21 % in two years and reached 8,738 quarterly pesos.

The gap between men and women grows with age: in the group of 60 years or more, men earn 1.8 times what women perceive. In all ranges, male income exceeds the female, with differences ranging from 1.35 to 1.80 times.

Participation of job income

The study also shows where household resources come from. The proportion that the work represents increases from the decil i to the VIII and then descends in the highest.

In decile I, labor income represents 42.5 % of the total and the rest comes from other sources such as support, transfers or income. The highest point of labor participation occurs in Decile VIII with 70.5 %. From there, the proportion drops: 69.8 % in decile IX and 62.8 % in Decile X.

In households with lower income, non -work sources have a greater weight. In the highest income, although the work remains the main source, other entries such as income or investments have a more relevant role.
