How much did Customs collect in the first quarter of 2022?

The General Directorate of Customs (DGA) reported today that between January-April of this year some 71,111.65 million pesos were collected, which represents an increase of 32.72% compared to the same period of the previous year.

During the January-April 2021 period, the institution collected some 53,579.97 million pesos, while in 2019 revenues amounted to 43,511.21 million pesos. “Which means that in this 2022 we have grown 63.43%, compared to 2019,” he said.

According to a statement, the institution highlighted that this increase is the result of a series of projects that the current administration has been implementing with the aim of optimizing collections through “efficient management” of resources.

Recently, a mission from the International Monetary Fund congratulated the institution for the transformations that it has been carrying out through its different projects, during a visit to the entity.

Customs recalls that in August 2021 the DGA achieved the enactment of a new Law of Customs, which replaced 68-year-old legislation. In addition, it put into operation the Dispatch in 24 Hours project, officially launched the “MOR” Risk Engine technology platform, implemented the use of x-ray technology for the inspection of containers at HIT Puerto Río Haina and presented the Exporta initiative +.

Also, implemented several improvements in the Foreign Trade Single Window (VUCE) and increased the certification for Authorized Economic Operator (OEA), aimed at facilitating exports.
