
Venezuela received a total of 850,000 doses of polio vaccines from South Korea, which will be incorporated into the National Immunization Program for the care of newborns in 2026, the Ministry of Health reported this Wednesday.
In a publication on Instagram, the State portfolio indicated that the shipment arrived at Simón Bolívar International Airport of Maiquetia Tuesday night.
The Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jimenezexplained that this is the third batch of vaccines received in the year.
“This cooperation is the result of the articulated work between the Ministry of Popular Power for Health and the OPSunder the guidance of Nicolas Madurowho has prioritized public health as the fundamental axis of his management,” he added.
On Sunday, Venezuela received 1,285,000 doses of different types of vaccines coming from India in two shipments, according to Jiménez.
The official then pointed out that in the first load they arrived 135,000 doses and in the second, 1,150,000including vaccines pentavalent, SRP, PCV10 and rotavirus.
The goal, Jiménez said Sunday, is “ensure vaccine supply between 2026 and 2027”in cooperation with PAHO.
In 2024, the Venezuelan Society of Childcare and Pediatrics indicated that “In the last 10 years the PAI has not been able to achieve its goals” proposals regarding vaccine coverage.
Likewise, he then pointed out that Venezuela’s PAI is very late in the incorporation of new vaccines.
