How many Bancamérica customers validated their data

More than 80% of the unrelated depositors (who were not shareholders) of Banco Múltiple de las Américas (Bancamérica) validated their data as savers of that entity, in the process of dissolution by the Superintendency of Banks (SB) since last February 2.

The SB informed Diario Libre that unrelated depositors of Bancamérica will go to the Reserve Bank (Banreservations), as well as credits (cards and loans) that have category “A” and “B”.

At the beginning of February, the superintendency announced that it was taking control of Bancamérica to initiate its dissolution, in accordance with the provisions of the Monetary Board in its second resolution of January 28, 2022.

According to the supervising institution, the dissolution measure of Bancamérica it was due to the fact that it failed to comply with legal and regulatory provisions within the framework of a regularization plan.

Last Wednesday, the SB communicated the award to the Banreservations of the assets and liabilities that make up the first business unit tendered for Bancamérica.

In this package, assets amounting to RD$2,346.5 million and deposits for RD$2,924.1 million (equivalent to 100% of the deposits of persons not linked to the shareholders or the administration) were tendered.

The institution specified that seven financial intermediation entities showed interest in bidding, two formalized offers, with the Reserve Bank being the winner.

According to the statement issued by the superintendence, the Banreservations You will let your new customers know when they will have access to your products. It is expected to be no later than next Wednesday, March 16, when the transfer and integration of data into your system is complete.

The contract that formalizes the award was signed by the Superintendent of Banks, Alejandro Fernández W., and the general manager of the BanreservationsSamuel Pereyra Rojas.
