As a result of this and with the approval of the District Council, during this year the figure of tax relief has been implemented, a system that is part of the District Development Plan ‘Bogotá Walk Safely’ and offers discounts of 80% in interest and penalties to those who cancel 100% of the capital of your pending taxes, fines or sanctions.

Thanks to this, as of November 20, Bogotá has recovered $190,384 million, corresponding to 145,445 payments made by citizens who at a certain point were hung up on their responsibilities. taxes and at this time they were able to catch up through this benefit.
As explained by the Secretary of the Treasury, Ana María Cadena, the tax relief covers various obligations. In the case of taxpayers in the collection stage, property or vehicle taxes for the periods 2020, 2021 and 2022 are included, as well as the ICA and other taxes with debts that fell into arrears between March 12, 2020 and March 30. “These results demonstrate Bogotá’s commitment to economic well-being of its inhabitants. Tax Relief is an effective tool for taxpayers to catch up with their obligations and obtain important economic benefits,” said the head of the Bogotá Treasury.
Although they have been well received, the tax reliefs were proposed as a temporary measure and because of that their execution time is close to expiring, which is why the Ministry of Finance called on people not to stop pass on this opportunity to catch up on taxes.

Those who meet the requirements to access this aid must only complete and sign the form provided on the website and attach a copy of the debtor’s citizenship card. The District Treasury Secretariat already has the application available on its website so that people interested in knowing whether or not they are beneficiaries of the tax relief can make the respective query.
With this measure, the benefits include an 80% reduction in late payment interest and an 80% discount in penalties for non-payment. It must also be said that it applies not only to taxes, but also to non-tax debts with the District Secretariats and/or local mayors’ offices. Debts generated until June 30, 2022, such as those related to the use of goods and services, sanctions and fines, may also be subject to these discounts.
