How have the withdrawals in Afores for unemployment behaved?

Withdrawing partial amounts of money from the Afores is one of the most common actions of Mexicans to face economic adversities such as unemployment.

During 2020 and 2021, with the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, partial withdrawals in Afores increased substantially.

And at the end of the first half of 2022, from January to June, there are 933,765 workers who have made some withdrawal of money for unemployment, according to figures from the Consar (National Commission of the Retirement Savings System).

Most of these workers who have made partial withdrawals have not returned their resources, which implies that the working time for their withdrawal would have to be extended.
