Housing production value falls in July; moves away from pre-pandemic levels

Macroeconomic conditions continue to put strong pressure on the living placewhich is reflected in its production value, as well as in the construction of new homes.

According to the National Survey of Construction Companiesthe housing industry registered a total value of 4,047 million pesos during last July, that is, a drop of 5.4% compared to the same month of 2021, with constant figures.

According to the records of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), this annual drop in July in the value of the production of living place it is the largest annual decline on record for any month in 2022.

These decreases are in line with the fall in the housing production that has been especially since the pandemic. For example, in July 2019, before the arrival of the health emergency, 14,466 were registered in production new homesbut in the same month this year the number was 11,327 units.
