The IBGE released today the per capita income of Brazil and the states, recorded in 2022. In the national average, the monthly value was R$ 1,625 per household. The calculation is based on the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (PNAD), and takes into account the sum of income from work and other sources received by each resident of a residence. Pensioners, domestic servants and family members of domestic servants are included. The per capita household income is then obtained by dividing the total value of the household with the number of residents.
In the research by states, the highest value was registered in the Federal District, of R$ 2,913. Following are São Paulo (R$ 2,148), Rio Grande do Sul (R$ 2,087), Santa Catarina (R$ 2,018) and Rio de Janeiro (R$ 1,971). The lowest values are in Maranhão (R$ 814 ), Alagoas (R$935), Amazonas (R$965), Bahia (R$1,010) and Pernambuco (R$1,010).
The national average value of 2022 represents a growth of 16% in relation to the per capita household income of 2021, which was R$ 1,367. The value for that year was the lowest in the Pnad Contínua historical series, which began in 2012.
