Hospital del Niño reports a sustained decrease of 29.1% in the positivity of Covid-19 cases

The latest epidemiological report from the José Renán Esquivel Children’s Hospital details that for the last week of January a sustained decrease of 29.1% was reported in the positivity of covid-19 cases.

The information shared by the entity on February 1 explains that during the week of January 31, 15 cases of covid-19 were registered, compared to 132 in the previous week, which is attributed to the presence of the omicron variant in the country.

The main affected continue to be children between 1 and 4 years old, while there is a decrease in the group between 10 and 14 years old.

The latest epidemiological report from the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reveals that 14.3% of the population between 5 and 11 years old has been vaccinated against covid, which can prevent the situation from worsening.

The latest data from the hospital’s Epidemiology Service indicate that a total of 510 minors, between the ages of 5 and 11, have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in these facilities.
