DF Star Hospital released a statement this Wednesday (24) confirming that surgery for former president Jair Bolsonaro would take place this Thursday (25), at 9 am, in a health unit located in Brasília.
According to doctors, Bolsonaro has already undergone pre-operative examinations, with cardiological and surgical risk assessment, and is considered fit for bilateral inguinal herniorrhaphy surgery.
The surgery will be carried out under general anesthesia, expected to last four hours.
“The need for the phrenic nerve anesthetic block procedure will be assessed during hospitalization, depending on the postoperative evolution and clinical condition,” the doctors stated in a note.
The blockade would aim to temporarily interrupt the function of the diaphragm to reduce the hiccups reported by Bolsonaro. The condition arises from gastrointestinal changes related to the stab wound suffered in 2018.

Bolsonaro is serving a sentence of 27 years and three months in prison after conviction for the coup plot and was authorized to undergo the procedure by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
Driven by the Federal Police on the route between the Federal Police Superintendence room, in the federal capital, and the hospital, the former president was admitted at around 9:30 am this Wednesday, accompanied by his wife, Michelle Bolsonaro.
Throughout hospitalization, surveillance will be 24 hours a day, with two agents stationed at the room door, in addition to other teams inside and outside the hospital, as determined by the STF minister.
