Hospital Carrión del Callao: They denounce that specialist doctors would be hired as generals and their salary would be reduced

Documents from the Daniel Alcides Carrión del Callao hospital reveal that the authorities of that hospital seek to hire doctors who have the registry of specialists endorsed by the Medical College of Peru as general practitioners and, in this way, their salary would be reduced.

According to a document sent by the president of the medical body of said hospital, Fernando Sihuas, the director of that hospital, Timoteo Fritas, intends to hire 71 (general) surgeons with a salary of S / 5,200, but only 14 specialist doctors, for the months of August and September. The latter are not chosen by public contest.

“The Daniel Alcides Carrión Hospital has a level III-1 categorization, where specialist doctors are hired. The monthly payment of S/ 5,200 for medical surgeons corresponds to another health institution with a lower categorization, except at level III-1″, is delimited in the document accessed by Correo.

Indeed, according to the table of vacancies for doctors in the temporary CAS regime (August and September), it can be confirmed that they only seek to hire 14 specialist doctors who, if so, could put the health of many patients who are referred at risk. care with specialists.

It should be noted that the medical specialists in the clinical and surgical areas of the Daniel Alcides Carrión hospital have been working since the start of the pandemic (2020) until July 31, the date the contract ended as a health emergency.

However, according to the law approved by Congress, on the change from the CAS-COVID contract to the CAS contract for healthcare personnel in the Health sector, it allows doctors to continue working.

Despite this, at the Daniel Alcides Carrión hospital the respective contracts have not yet been made for the specialist doctors, who are the priority in said hospital. According to hospital sources, in addition to wanting to reduce the salary of specialist doctors, they want to force them to take shifts for cases of COVID-19.

From the bench of Somos Perú, which will chair the Health Commission, through the legislator Hitler Saavedra, they indicated that they will take action on the case of not complying with the law approved by Congress and will investigate alleged irregularities that benefit doctors with favors. This legislative group will be installed in the coming days.

Likewise, legislator Diego Bazán told us that he has filed an interpellation motion against the Minister of Health, Jorge López, in order to know the situation of the personnel hired under the CAS-COVID modality and their continuity in the various hospitals in the country.

Precisely, one of the questions that the head of health must answer has to do with what has been happening at the Daniel Alcides Carrión hospital: “What coordination and supervision actions did you carry out in the regional and local governments so that the contracted health personnel continue to provide services under the CAS-COVID modality until regularization occurs through the change of modality approved by Law No. 31539?
